Hi All,
This post is about a tool that I make and offer, so if anyone want a set please let me know.
The reason I am putting this here is to show where and how it is used.
I also want to give credit to Ty Marcucci for actually giving me the idea to make a tool that helps
us with the alignment stage of building our models.
That said here is the wing and stab alignment jig set we offer.
see our vendors section for more details.

Hmm, I'm glad you posted those pics. I have a set a lot like that, that came in my Walt Umland Fancherized Twister kit. I had no idea what to do with them, and now, actually today, it's wing installation time, The wing is in but not glued yet.

The alignment jig is a very helpful tool. I found that when I installed a wing, I would tinker with it, trying to get it just right, and I would be ready to set the wing and I would bump it! Go through the process all over again trying to get it perfect. So this jig allowed me to use my square, measure and pin the wing, holding it in the proper location. I could double check it and then add a drop of CA and recheck. It's difficult to flip your assembly over and add a drop on the bottom without the wing moving so this really helped out a lot. I actually wish I had this years ago, I might be a better flyer today?
The other tool Walter offers is the rib alignment tools. He has a set of rib alignment jigs made from ply wood that you slide over the rib to get the rib perpendicular to the building surface. Walter's kits most or all that I have seen have on the rib a building tab. This tab gives you the proper level to build the wing on a flat surface (glass or sheetrock) then use the alignment tool and you get a perfect wing. If you don't have this rib alignment set call Walter, it is a must have. It's available in 3 different thicknesses as the set.

I'm going to have to practice the process leading up to gluing. The fuse LE all the way back to the high point is 2" wide on this Twiser. Makes me wish I could still get 60 minute epoxy. After all the trouble getting this far I don't want to make a mess out of it. I'm going to find someone to discuss it with. I don't want to hijack Builditright's thread since he's looking to sell this set.

Oops! did I not include the sheet with the kit? If not don't worry I'll email you what I have.
Maybe we can get Russ to do a nicer set of instructions for the alignment tool. Hint! Hint!

Builditright, are you Walter? If so, we swapped a couple of emails when I first got this kit from my buddy a few months ago. H^^

EDIT: You are Walter, I just realized it. Well here she is now, a real beauty so far:

Several years ago I mentioned to Walter how hard it was for me to align everything with a bench I could only use from one side and how things tended to move when least expected. He said he'd make me a jig. He did so. and I still have and use it. It's like having four hands. Worth every dime. So be sure to purchase one so I can get my 40% discounts. LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ Just kidding on the discounts, he now charges me double. LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~
Ty, he made sure I knew you were the source of inspiration for this jig.
I just walked in from masking the area for the epoxy treatment. I'm feeling a little dubious about it, as I've never used this technique before. If I knew what I know now about how quickly the jig can be put in place, I would have applied glue before aligning it. I probably shouldn't have filmed my first run through, but Walt likes it and wants to use it as a tutorial. I told him I'd be honored, but I'm going to add a better introduction after re-watching it.

Hi Fred,
In between pains and Dr appointments I am putting together a package of handy building tools for the shop.
I want to give as many items as possible as a whole set that makes it worth while for all that are interested.
I will post in the vendors corner as soon as I can, so please give me a day or so.. I am pretty certain everyone
should be happy with the set I will be offering. Thank you, Walter

Got my Jig set today and it is all that I imagined
But I must say...Walt could save half a roll of masking tape if he desires.... took my arthritic hands and fingers a full half hour to unwrap all the sets.....grin
That aside, I look forward to learning to use these to be more precise in my building
Thanks for providing these tools

Hi Fred,
Yes I agree... I do go thru a lot of tape.
Sorry for that..

Tape is better than rubber bands that keep breaking. Waiting on my set to arrive. H^^

Used my alignment set from Walter for the first time this week. Great set of tools for a great price. I colored the rows of pin holes in alternating colors every 5th row on my set. For me it makes it a lot faster getting to the same mark on opposite sides of the airplane while I'm aligning. [img][img]

I haven't heard from Walter since I finished the last video tutorial on using the stab jigs.
I hope you're all right out there Walt.

I am liking the pool table slate flat surface
Need to get me a section, my current method requires too much fiddling
I am also going to copy the fuselage holder..mine is non adjustable requiring shims
Thanks for the photo and I think I am also going to mark my alignment jig too as soon as i hit send

Fred,
I went to a local Billiard dealer and asked who did moving and setup on their pool tables. They gave me the name and number and I gave him a call and told him what I was looking for. He had recently done a repair on a broken table and the manufacturer made him buy the entire 3 piece set though he only needed one. He sold me 2 pieces for something like $50. Getting them from the car to the basement was the worst part. George

George I have set up more than one pool table in a basement rec room... heavy slate and stairs are a pain
Fortunately my shop is a detached building I can back right up to the door and move the piece less than 15 feet
I am a VFW officer and we have a contract for the leased pool table managment and repair..I bet they have a bunch of old slate sections I could get one or two of for low or no cost.
