19-strand Leadout Wire

Has anybody used this cable?  It's smooth, but I fear that strands would break and jam at the leadout guide at the wing tip.

Howard, I used it on one plane,, however that plane really did not live long enough to give it a good test,, I did note that it was a bit more finicky in doing the ends,, on one end it broke a couple strands when I was working it,, perhaps I was being a bit heavy handed,, I got mine from Pat Johnston,,he did not like it ( hence why he gifted it to me)

I have used it. As you noted, light, smooth. However fragile. Never had one jam at the lead out guide but did have individual strands break at the end wraps. Didn't last a season so went back to 7 strand. 8)

Thanks.  Now to find some smooth 7-strand.  Mine is kinda rough.

I've used it on a number of planes. So far, it's worked fine. But you do have to be careful wrapping the ends.

Spools of fishing leader wire from Bass Pro Shops or other good sporting goods stores. Comes in various strengths, I use seven strand 135# .032" Malin brand wire but I think most all brands come from the same source.

 Sounds a little scary to me.

 I don't remember how many strands it was but I had some leadout cable from Tom Morris a while back that I thought was some really nice stuff, very smooth and very flexible.
