Title: "Mini MO" build

I started this well over a year ago and inbetween a painting project started back. This is a 25% reduced Mo Best with a 44 1/2" WS and will be powered by an OS 20 FP. TMJ's post on wing tips got me goin on it again. My tips started at 75gms and the inboard with slider is at 10gms. after all the shaping.

Your wingtip is beautiful.  Wished you had done a little photo essay on how you did it.  Real nice.

Thanks,Been really busy at work. I finished the outboard tip and weight box, now to size the flaps and taper and hinge.

I am glad you nade you tips like that so Steve helmick doesn't deduct 2 points for those other kind. Looks good. Keep on a building. Winter will be over soon. Wee have had some good flyin weather in Portland lately, but today wind big time. HB~>

I'll give the whole wing a good sanding and start doping in preparation for silk spanning. I'm going to try Randolph's on this one and see how it goes. As the wing sits with flaps on it's 8 1/4 oz. Sounds heavy for 44 1/2" maybe it's not  ??? ???

'looks really nice. Some fuselage questions:

1) Is the profile solid balsa under the 1/64" ply?

2) What did you use between laminations?

3) How long is the fuselage?

4) What does the fuselage weigh as is?

I'm looking for comparisons to what I'm doing now - pretty close.

Serge thanks:    The fuselage is solid 3/8 balsa tapered to 1/8" at the tail
                       I laminated with epoxy
                       Fuselage is 28 7/8" long
                       As is the fuse wieghts 5 1/2 oz.

I don't remember if I put C/F matt on it or not  HB~> HB~>

Thanks much for the info. 'looks as though you have a good concept and a plane that will fly well. Larry should be enthusiastic. Mine is marginally larger with a beamed wing for my LA.25. After some great SSWF responses on fuselages and some good private e-mails, I had decided to use glass or CF in preference to the thin ply, but had cut out one full side to compare to weight computations. It looked good, giving me second thoughts. I don't suppose you have any data on how much weight your laminating epoxy added  for the 1/64" sheeting...? My sheeting alone would weigh about .55 oz per side, but I'm concerned about the adhesive weight that goes with that. You must have done reasonably OK with yours. Please keep sharing your progress. We'll really look forward to hearing how you like it in the air.
