I too would like to see Windy win the NATS also.  But, it is little things in the pattern that keep some guys from reaching the top.  The judges can only score what you show them on the circle.  Just look at how many would just like to make the top 20 let alone the top 5.  Windy is a true artist. H^^

PS: Ask Windy about the time he got front row, but received only 19 1/2 points.  That may have been the year they asked for appearance judges that did not fly stunt. jeh

I too would like to see Windy win the NATS just once.  He's come awfully close so many years in a row.  I guess nobody is buying the 5th place he owns  :P

The Nats is rigged.  I helped rig it.  It's rigged to ensure as best we know how that the person who flies the best wins (with a few points thrown in for entertaining us with a nice-looking airplane). People made excuses about their being victims of arbitrary flight order assignment.  Now the contestants randomly draw their flight orders each round. People made excuses about their being victims of circle seeding.  Now seeding is done by an objective formula.  People made excuses about their being victims of who judged the finals.  Now judge selection is done by statistical formula.  All this took a lot of work and was probably unnecessary. I shall send you (and anybody else with ideas on the process) the tabulation and judge-selection program.  The seeding and judge-selection methods have been posted here and on the SSW board.  Personally, I suspect that a more statistically valid judge-selection method can be found, but I have only received two statistical analyses from anybody, neither of which were on judge selection.   I look forward to receiving your analysis.

I've tried to win the Nats myself.  Unfortunately, a bunch of guys who know what they're doing and who work harder than I do show up.

You need to come up with a system whereby, the system is rigged against "those guys who keep showing up". That is, the harder they work, the less chance they have of succeeding, which should decidedly favor your skills and approach. Also, I suggest you develop a seeding system that strongly favors pilots with past combat flying experience.

That is, if they can’t handle a streamer attached to their stunt ship, this will severely negatively impact their first round scores. This should see you in the Walker Cup finals virtually every single time. If I can come up with any more rigging systems that may be of assistance to you, I will not hesitate to share them.

So what do I do about Granderson?  He's not going to keep leaving maneuvers out forever.

Howard,

You really need to learn to be more subtle. Greasing the judges out in front of everyone only works in combat.   ;D
