Ty,

Absolutely the best way to get a young one interested in airplanes is to take them for a ride in a real one!
My granddad took me flying when I was 5 and that caused me to have an intense obsession for aircraft the rest
of my life.  When I was 9-10 I used to fly my parents lawn chairs as fighter aircraft during the war!  I used to lay on my back and watch the B-36's come and go to Castle AFB about 30 miles to the south for hours on end.  Now you know what happened to me.  Well, I can't say that I havn't enjoyed airplanes.

Our first great grandchild was born late yesterday. His first model airplane was purchased ahead of time!  ;D

It's only a plug together rubber stick model, so he won't have to handle dangerous things like pins, knives, and model airplane cement!

My daughter, who never was interested in flying, just called and told me I have a grandson on the way! Maybe all isn't lost after all! Woo Hoo!

Enjoy those grand kids while you can.  Went flying Thursday without them and it was the pits.  A lot more fun watching them fly.  DOC Holliday

I have a 6 year old cousin, who likes anything that has an engine in it, NASCAR, Monster Jam, cars, planes, boats, you name it.  Maybe we can get him flying in the future.

He is kind of like me when I was little, not liking how the loud the engine was when it started, maybe we should build him an electric.
