We all certainly do know that Steve was a "Speed Racer" at heart but I was unaware he actually participated in it with the model planes!

Back in the day when stunt, combat, scale, and carrier were ONE EVENT each, guys branched out more for something to do.  Even racing was pretty-much just rat.  Only speed offered 6 ways to fly the same event.

With just single elim fast combat, it could be a long day (or weekend, or week at the Nats) without something else to fly.

Steve Wooley drove a Ferrari.

Anyone have photos of it?

Steve was a very talented and creative person and his early demise was a great loss to our hobby. I built several Argus models of his design and I probably have one more in me before I go. I've been looking for many years for a color picture of the Fierce Arrow he built and flew at the Nats  to no avail. This is probably my last try at obtaining such a picture.
