Title: Randy Powell's amazing Shoestring test
Post by: Shultzie on December 21, 2015, 05:39:02 PM
I found these old photos taken at our Gig Harbor Narrow Airport...from the daze' days we flew our CLPA models...on the south end of the stage area.
I know these are posted "somewhere" on the stunt hanger board but this is just a test for sizing photos such as this beautiful ShoeString stunter of Randy's. What beautiful model and looked so awesome in flight. Today he missed our first snow shower of the season but he is in a much warmer climate huh?  y1

About time you came out from where ever you've been and start posting pictures again of the beautiful planes you have stashed.   Randy does do a great job on planes.

That is shocking news.  I didn't even know he was sick.

Randy's ships are the definition of "swoosh!"  The word might very well have been invented to describe anything he builds and paints.  They all sort of say "I dare you not to say 'wow! What is that one?'"  I mean the real Shoestring was kind of cool but always seemed a bit porky to me.  Randy's rendition looks like it just spent a month at the spa and came out saying "look at me now".

A bit late for this but that bottom picture is me trying to figure out why the thing just wouldn't track. So I stripped it down, replaced the flaps, stab and elevator and bellcrank and refinished it. It will make it's debut at VSC. Not nearly as pretty, but hopefully it will fly better.

Randy left the remains in a trash can in Tuscon before official flights in Classic.  Loss of a beautiful plane because of a pilot brain f**t. H^^
