Wow, see, Phil was young once!
First time I met Phil was at the Northwest Regionals about 1984 or so. He was flying a variation of the Diplomat that was sky blue and pink. Don't remember the name of the plane now, but I remember in being long and lean. And it flew pretty well, too.
Been a long time, it seems.

WOW is right! Can't believe I was ever that young either. Brought back a lot of memories of my daze in Seattle.
Also, got me looking at other photos. Here's some from the '68 Nats in Olathe, KS (Navy hanger days)
Pic 1: Sittin' waiting for something to happen at the combat circle
Pic 2: Cleaning off ELgato after placing 3rd in Senior stunt.
Pic 3: Norm Whittle and me in hangar. Norm crashed his Playboy, I helped him rebuild it (the first time) Here is pointing to where it was sitting outside the hangar, dope drying, when the wind picked it up an slammed it into the side of the hangar.
Thanks Shultzie!
If you ever get down to San Francisco you gotta give me a call so we can tell lies and think its truth, 'cause neither of us can remember!
Phil
