Tulsa Glue Dobber Jim Shamblin passed away about a month ago. Jim had been an active Control-line flyer in the mid 40's to about 1950 and had just returned to the hobby about 8 years ago. His widow let us borrow his old scrapbooks that had some interesting material from some of the early contests. Most of it had been glued to the scrapbooks so the photos are a little bit angled since the set-up we had didn't allow getting directly over the scrapbooks. Here's some of the material. There was one glossy picture that photographed fairly well. Jim is the one to the right of the star. A lot of photos were newspaper clippings which didn't photograph nearly as well

Elwyn, how did I miss the passing of Jim? He was a real gentleman that I met at the Oklahoma City Contest that Jim Phillips had. I beleive he was the oldest contestant and my grandaughter was the youngest in beginner stunt. Thanks for the memorabilia. :( :(

I think that was his first contest when he got back into C/L.

Thanks Elwyn, and all the Tulsa GluDobbers for these wonderful documents and pictures from the past. Jim was the consummate Gentleman, as all who met him know.
Again, Thank you,
