Title: JERRY WORTH... Stunt grunt scan shots for Tuesday.
Post by: Shultzie on February 03, 2009, 07:40:45 PM
Jet style at the Nats.....taken to the MAX by JERRY WORTH.
Both Jerry Worth and Billy Werwage's USA ONE are truly a couple of the best of the best.

Donaldo:

You are right about Jerry's knack for creating air borne sculpture.  I recently got this with some pix from Rick Sawicki.  I think this was after the Electra but before the Mirage...

Dennis,

Looks like a predessor to the Apterix. Very cool. Amazing how many of these very cool classic planes were around that hardly anyone knows about.

Right-o Randy.  I had completely forgotten this bird until I saw a pix that Rick S sent me.  In the Mirage article Jerry W mentioned flying Mario Rondinelli's Venus and falling it love with it.  Well squint a little and you can see some influence here.  No turtle deck and its a trike, but the big pieces look a lot like a Venus (to me anyway)

I recall that this airplane was totally destroyed when it threw a blade off the Grish 10x6 3 blade.  Jerry got it down and shut off in something like one lap, but the massive vibration apparently destroyed everything - even broke the stab.  I did not witness this but remember the story Jerry told about it.

Does anyone know how to contact Jerry?

I would guess its Ted's, kinda looks like the "Moby Dick" of 1974 but without the vortex tips.  That eagle graphic screams TED!  Paint scheme looks bicentenial?

I would put money on it being a BI Centennial model with 1776 on one wing tip and 1976 on the other.

Indeed it is. It currently hangs in J&M Hobby House in San Carlos.

 Shultzie,
Looking at Jerry`s airplane that you posted. It`s not an I-beamer. I`m building that one right now,but the plans I have is an I-beamer. Did he build it both ways?

Thanks

Gordan, I've heard it is a thicker airfoil than the USA-1, and obviously, this one is Jerry's design.  I didn't know plans were available, where did you get them?
