Post by: Randy Powell on January 12, 2011, 08:44:49 PM: I got some pictures from my brother (long story) and amongst them was this picture. Me and my son circa 1988. The plane was cool and the kid is cooler. He's a lot older now.

That CLPA model is truly is an beautiful piece of art work and yes that young man with the Easter Bunny Egg is a cutie-paaatootie! Love to hear more about both that amazing stunt machine and "Cool kid?"

Yea, we got about 9", but then the rains came. We still have quite a bit of snow around even though it's raining...hard.

The plane was one of 3 I built. Flew pretty well, but this particular plane had a short life. A friend was flying it to test the trim. I was watching from the outside. Engine decided to quit during the overhead eight and my flying buddy couldn't bail out. Splatted in the Boeing east parking lot after only 20 flights or so. Straight in and destroyed the ST60 in the nose, too. It was the last of the series. Flew quite well as I remember.

The kid (my son) is now 26 and living in Portland. Still pretty cool.

Post by: Randy Powell on January 31, 2011, 04:29:48 PM: I'm sure I'd change much, PJ. It was really a nice flying plane. About 675 square inches and pretty light. Might push the tail moment back a touch, but other than that I'd likely just build it as is.

I'm still trying to finish the low rider. After digging up the plans and looking at it, this could be my first electric. Or perhaps a pipe plane. We'll have to see. The next project up is a plane for next year's VSC. I want a take apart and the way I plan to do it, it could, uh, take awhile.

And the mustache stays. It's an heirloom.

I still remember the look on Bobby Hunt's face when I showed up at VSC clean shaven. Especially when Rusty Brown started laughing at him because Bobby didn't recognize the old DOC. I have changed a little since the Lake Charles NATS when I first met Bobby. D>K

Rumor has it...that Lady GaaaaaGaaaa is also fond of mustashes...and maybe you should think about ordering one like this for your beloved?

Last Thurs. Ben Madsen and Lynn Dooty drove over across the bridge and had breakfast our conversations turned to Randy's beautiful CLPA models and just how ENVUS all of us are when we see them posted on line. LL~ mw~

Keeeeeeeeeen eyeballs Ty! My Epson 300 negative scanner prints that way...when the lame brained idot popped the negative in upside down. n~
Even more strange..I hav always marveled that many CLPA folks actually fly their models 'BACK-AZZWARD?

I doubt you'd want it. It wanders around like a drunken sailor (no comments, Ty). If I ever get around to cutting the stab off an replacing it, that may get fixed. But right now, I have other things to worry about.
