Wynn Paul and I have been trying to find maybe a son on one of these  amazing open flyers that are listed on the black board behind our 67 Champ....

Jim Mayflield was an adult and an Open flyer, he had black hair. I don't know if Greg Zajack was at Los Al, but he was mentored by Jim Kostecky.

The airplane definitely looks like the "Formula S" from 1968. There were 2 examples built - Jim Kostecky's which was published and his buddy Greg Zajac.  Jim's featured a D-tube wing, but Greg's used a full ribbed wing like the earlier Talon design.  The paint schemes were the same except for this: Jim's FS featured a cartoon graphic of a "Ukranian Lion" Greg's had a different graphic - something like "Ulitmatus Dompolski".

I am guessing that the picture was taken in 1968-Olathe (scene of the world famous beer can races) not 1967..?

Forgot the other part - if 1968-Olathe then its likely that the young man holding that airplane is my Much Older Brother Arch, who pitted for Jim at the NATs

Come on Leo get your reading glasses.  The kid/young man I don't believe could be an Adimisin in the back ground.  Where the guys that were there?

Man, I really miss the "Jet Era" ships. They had such a cool vibe. Lastest effort in my shop is canopy-forward with a swept tail. Wish I had the cajones to make it a trike.

Is that a Jetco Sabre Jet that Mr. Klapinski is holding?  Beautiful is all I can say!
