Title: Yes! ARF Pathfinders first issue?
Post by: John Craig on March 04, 2015, 05:30:12 PM
I have a new to me ARF Pathfinder profile.  4 or 5 years old.  I need to rebuild the  the front end.  Are there other areas that would be wise to address?  Weak areas?  leadouts?

We had an ARC Pathfinder crash at the Ku-ring-gai club in Sydney last weekend. One of crimped sleeves use to terminate the leadouts at the bellcrank split and let go. If you can get to the bellcrank, I'd replace the leadouts.

John, if the original owner did not replace the leadouts definitely cut it open and fix them, if they are not crimped and you can see they have been wrapped you should be okay. If they are soldered, replace them, accident waiting to happen. How do you plan to fix the front end? If it needs a whole balsa front end consider using dowels and some type of wrap for extra strength. I've never rebuilt a front end if you need more idea's post in the building forum.
