Tutor II push rod exit, does it matter?
« on: September 12, 2008, 04:23:06 PM »
TF Tutor II...I completely stripped the plane, replaced the controls with cf push rod, ball links and 4" Tom Morris BC. I fit the new bell crank in the same factory position as the China BC, but flipped the new BC so that the up lead is the forward lead out exiting the wing tip, the down is aft.  This made the push rod to flap (and of course, the flap to elevator), exit further from the fuselage than the factory set up. Factory push rod exits 5/8" from fuselage, mine now exits 1 1/2" from fuselage. So I now have a nice 18" long cf rod 1 1/2" from the fuselage from flap to elevator. It sure is a smooth system, but other than looking a little strange, will this impact flying performance?  Maybe I should just fly it and find out.

Only to the purists.  If the plane flies the way you want it doesn't matter.  DOC Holliday
