Title: Strega ARF Put Together At Last
Post by: Shug Emery on June 18, 2016, 08:19:41 PM
It has been over a year since I ordered this plane and finally got around to getting it done.
I beefed up the front some, rounded the wing leading edges, made new little bit thicker flaps. Have an Enya CXRX PRO .61 on the nose. Weighs in at 72 ounces.
She's a big 'un.

She looks awesome Shug....love the colour scheme!

Are my eyes deceived by picture perspective, or is the inboard wheel canted inward?

Hope it flys great too. Or I should say I hope I fly it great. Excited to get 'er airborne....

Well being an ARF, it came that way. I think it is cool looking.
It is a camera perspective on the wheel. It is actually straight.

I have the same plane, and didn't notice this till after it had been flown- both of my landing gears had a significant inboard twist. On the test flight, as soon as my launcher let the plane go it turned in. Had to run back to tighten the lines and take off, after which it flew great. Next flight was the same but I was ready for it. That night I pulled the LG and bent them for a slight amount of outboard angle.

Mine promptly broke the gear mount inside the wing on the second landing, I have since replaced with fuse mounted gear.

Mine look all good.

I could see that happening. ARF thing.

I didn't know it came in yellow until it arrived.
Went electric 42-38 750 kv, Zippy light 4s 3700 25c. Dulux 55 amp esc. Set for 2 minute runs.
Weighs in at 78oz with battery.
First flights I tried a 13-4 carbon, and all I could get out of the setup was 10,000 rpm on 65 feet just didn't cut it 7.3 second laps.
Switched to a 12x8 apc lowered the rpm to 7600, bingo 5.4 seconds, under 50 amps.
Also opened up the bottom fuse under the wing and installed plywood and mounted aluminum gear.
Had a wind storm this last weekend that dropped a tree on my flying field, so no circles until I get it cleaned up.

I was thinking of trimming some branches off that tree anyways. <=

Finally got a maiden flight. Have a higher outboard wing so need some trimming. Engine needs a bit more break-in but this was my first time flying a big plane with a big engine. It was fun.
Bob Cheney took these photos.
