Anyone come up with a better way to install the canopy on a Nobler ARF rather than taping it on and having to redo it every month? Pictures????

I'd trim the covering away an 1/8 around the canopy and put fillets and paint it with Lustre Kote to match, or C/A and paint to match.

Was hoping someone came up with something simpler. I do the fillet bit when I paint but doesn't seem really compatible with plastic covering.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the suggestion and ideas. Will probably just glue it on and try clear fingernail polish on the tape.

How about rtv silicon sealer, either blue or clear??
Haven't tried it, yet......... but was told to use the blue rtv silicon to seal up the wing joint (fillet material) on mine. Seems that if it will do that job, it just might hold the canopy, too.

Check out the 50 plus photos at District 5 of Photo Albums listed under Albums "ARF Nobler Take Apart." Ed Prokaska uses two pieces of ply epoxied to rear bottem section of canopy. He then uses two small wood screws to attach the canopy. Tape around the junction of plastic canopy and fuselage top and you have a sealed cockpit. There are other good photos of Ed Prohaska's engineering of the ARF Nobler into at "take apart" there too.

I just cut the flange away from the canopy, ran a bead of hi temp silicon seal around the perimeter, and pressed it on. Looks ugly, but it's not going anywhere.

Ended up just trimming the flange as neat as I was able, leaving about 1/16 and gluing it on with Pacer canopy glue, no tape. Looks fairly good if it will stay on it's good enough for an ARF

I have used RC-56 glue on many RC ARF's no need to remove the monokote just scuff were the canopy sits and a little inboard. Make sure the monokote is ironed down good, put a bead around the edge of the canopy put in place hold with masking tape wipe off excess on OD with a damp cloth dont worry about the inside the glue dries clear. That canopy is there to stay after that the glue remains flexable so temperature wont effect it.Walt y1

Walt, Thanks for the confirmation.
That is just about exactly what I did, scuffed the Monokote and inside edge of he canopy with a scotch brite and glued her on. Appreciate knowing it has a good chance of stayin put.
