Title: Motor mounts
Post by: Chris Wellington on October 31, 2007, 12:57:33 PM
The poor quality of the bearers (mounts) is often mentioned re ARF/ARCs : what do you use to effect a fix (short of sawing off the nose.....)

That's what some have done.
Other possibilities would be to add balsa filler blocks between the two bearers to tie them together. On my Arf (glow) Nobler, I tied the two bearers together by drilling through them (in the tank area) and gluing in two 1/8" bamboo skewers---these are pretty tough!

I might mention on my Electric Nobler Arf version (second Nobler Arf), I just dremeled them away since there was no reason to keep them and they were getting in the way of my battery installation. Made a lot of dust. I tried chiseling them, but they are actually pretty tuff and I was afraid of breaking away the light ply and doing damage to the fuse.
