Morris controls for ARF Nobler question...
« on: March 02, 2012, 11:07:50 PM »
Does anyone here happen to know what size bellcrank the Tom Morris control system for the ARF Nobler is supposed to come with? I'm just checking in case I've gotten ahold of the wrong one. The system I have came with a 4" bellcrank and I'm not sure if that's what it's supposed to be or not. I went to install the bellcrank in the wing tonight and found that if I mount it in the stock ARF pivot position, the leadouts coming off the bellcrank don't line up with the existing holes/leadout passages in the wing. I sent Tom a message asking, but I thought I'd check here too.

 Thanks! H^^

Wayne,

I've got a set still in the box from Tom.  Bellcrank measures 3" on mine.  Bought several years ago and marked "Nobler ARF" on the box.

 Gary,

That's what I was thinking it should probably be. Still waiting on a response from Tom though. Tom???

 Doc,

From what I've always understood bellcrank size is mostly just a matter of personal preference on .35 and larger size models. Using a 4" compared to a 3" slows things down a bit and can make it a little easier for the brain to keep up. I think a 3" would be just fine for the Nobler, but that's just me. I'm thinking that's probably what should have been included in this control kit but I'm just trying to find out for sure. D>K

Use handle spacing to slow things down.   H^^

The "hot set up" for controls is to mount the flap to elevator pushrod externally, making easy adjustment of ratio and neutral

Have fun!

Thanks for the info guys. I've determined that yes, it should have been a three inch bellcrank supplied in the control kit. Somehow it got out with the wrong one, stuff happens. I've got one coming now from CLC and I should have it any day. ;D

Hi Brother Wayne,

A 4" BC is kinda hard to just drop in in place of the metal 3" one supplied in the ARF.  It does take some alterations. ;D  Better idea: 3" BC........... ;D

Flew the E-Nobler today and it seems really great. Still needs  a little trim but its not far off.
