Hi,

I just got my new T-Rex ARF from Stunt Hobby here in Brazil.

I'm going to install a PA-65 with Pipe.

I would Like to know if some body have already put a PA with Pipe in a T-Rex ARF?

I would like to see how I install the pipe under the wing.

One of our club members has one but he didn't document the building process. My understanding is you just start removing wood till the pipe fits then beef up the areas weakened by removing the wood for the pipe.

If you can just post some pictures of the model done, will help allot. I just want to know if He opened all the fuselage under the wing or not.

No do not.

Just make pocket for the very tail end of the pipe. The hole will be behind the wing saddle. The area will then need to be reinforced near the joint of the wing saddle to the fuselage. I suggest plywood triplers over the joint and them glass the entire area.

The pipe will simply insert through the front to the rear. One hold down at the very rear of the pipe is all that is needed.

I just opened up the bottom of fuselage and use the bottom of wing for top of pipe tunnel and put the pipe holder on bottom of wing, sealed up all and let air go out at back of pipe. I put in a tunnel from the back wing joint about three inches long.

Fernandinho,
Do you like the quality of the T-Rex kit and weight.... will it be below 65 OZ with the Pa 65 and with correct CG? I intend to start a model with Electrical powered engine and the ARC T-rex should work. best regards, Luiz Dutra - Mococa/SP- Brazil

Thank you for all the great photos of your neat installation.

Do you have any photos of the wing take apart? I like your method, it is better than the method I was going to use.

Here is some more pictures of the plane with the wing removeable wing.

Here in Brazil We use to build almost the airplanes this way. It is better to travel longer distances.

I used 4 bolts 4-40 with blind nuts to hold the wing.

I made 2 fire wall with 1/8 plywood and pasted in the wing.

I loved the plane, it is great project, but I'm having problens with the flaps. They are to much flexible. I had to glue two small parts of plywood in each flap to get a little more hard flap, but probably I will build a new flap. What color is this orange?? Is it oracover???

Thank you for the perfect photos of your take-apart method. Your photos answered all my questions. Your method is sooooo much easier than the labor intensive method I was going to use. Very good idea, thanks!

Do you worry about the plastic ball link part becoming loose over time, after forcing it over the ball every time you take the wing off? ..... Here is what I will be using. I have used it in some of my RC planes but I have never used it in a CL plane yet. It seems to have a tight, smooth fit. These are very strong all metal units, they also make a less expensive plastic one that I have also used, (look near the bottom of the page for the plastic version).

BTW: Is your stab/Elevator also removable?

Fernando. Regarding your new flaps and the Oracover..
