Title: Modified ARF Score
Post by: Matt Piatkowski on January 12, 2016, 03:48:08 PM
Hello,
I have modified the ARF Score ( new name RToucan) as follows:
1. Replaced the bellcrank, reinforced the b-crank attachment and changed the pushrods to the carbon composite thin walled tapered tubes.
2. Rebuilt the front part of the fuselage (yellow) with epoxy and carbon composite laminate
3. Extended the wings by 5" ( 2.5" per side)
4. Increased the surface area of the horizontal stabilizer by 7%
5. Created the attachment for the optional grass landing gear
6. Removed 3.5 oz. of weight from the wings and fuselage: mostly plywood, many useless hot glue blobs and supplied cabin.
The cabin has been custom made using thin balsa and silkspan and weights 1/4 oz. as shown.
7. Created the optional winglet to increase the OH tension

The model can be powered by Jett60 with header/muffler ( as shown in the attachment), Evo60, Magnum XLS 52 and....RoJett76 using low RPM.

I will test all these engines in flight and select the one that delivers the best performance.

The RTF weight of the configuration shown in the attachment is 1840 grams (64.9 oz.), the wings w/flaps area = 720 in^2 and the loading is 13 oz./ft.^2.

Thank you,
Matt

The tip winglet is interesting.  Have you ever used one before on a c/l stunt model? Just curious as to the effect it will have.

Tony,
I have used the winglet, much smaller though, in my LGW.
See the attachment.
Thanks,
Matt
