LEGACY ARF
« on: January 14, 2008, 05:41:57 AM »
Attention Brodaks:

I understand you will be marketing a ARF version of
the Legacy this year
For me to buy 2 or 3 of them I would like the engine area
with radial mount and a hatch above the tank , option of
fuselage mount gear and a FG cowl

I mount all my motors sidewinder , use clunk tanks and a
removable hatch above the tank, I dont bother with cowls
making a one piece plane with nose area faired into the spinner
with soft balsa, works fine for me

I think all ARFS with full fuse should be constructed this way

 Attention Brodaks:

Please do all of the above so it can be distinguished from my kit built Legacy

Vince - I agree 100%. I use the plastic mounts in ALL my planes.

BUT, although your suggestion is an excellent one, it should go directrly to John.

Then, I will work with him to evalute it.
If it is feasable, I create a drawing of the proposed change and we send it to China for evaluation.

The only drawback to this type of system is the placement of the engine. In many cases, people will want to use a 4-stroke and due to it's somewhat higher weight but smaller tank requirement, the builder may want to push it back a bit, 1/2 to 1 inch. With a fixed location structural firewall, this does not work out well

I'm staying out of the ARF debate, however I sure would like to see a lazar cut Legacy done to the same high standard as the lazar cut Vector 40 -even though I will admit that the die-cut one is pretty darn good and a tremendous value for the price.

Thanks Bob Z
here is what I sent to Brodaks from their web site:

Hi John and all there
Trust you have fully recovered from your health setback?
I hear you will be launching ARC / ARF of the Legacy soon
and would like the possibility of have optional fuselage mounted landing gear and for
sidewinder engine layout a plastic firewall mount, like the 'Score', should be possible
to place the firewall in an acceptable position as per the Score,
which I see with many different engines
It is a lot less work to modify the front end of an ARC plane than to scratch build
Just my 2 cents worth
Thanks in advance
Vincent

I have since the above had a polite reply from John Brodak
saying 'see what we can do'
