Glueing control horns
« on: July 31, 2020, 07:58:27 PM »
Hi guys, can I get some opinions on the subject of glueing control horns into flaps/elevators?

I am still learning and originally glued the control surfaces to the horns. This can create considerable issues should you need to make repairs, which I have to often, unfortunately. I now just slip the flaps/elevators into the horns and glue the hinges.

I bought myself a couple of birthday presents, a Smoothie ARC, from Brodak and a Vector ARF from Randy (still waiting on delivery). The Smoothie instructions say to glue the horns into the flaps/elevator. Should I?

Thanks

Craig,
I glued the Smoothie in because there is not enough structure there to hold up over time.  Not sure how it is on the Vector.  Some guys build special hardwood/plywood boxes to accept the horn wire that hold up well.  Good luck on your builds.
