Pipe in SV11 arf?
« on: June 11, 2020, 02:44:12 PM »
It all looks like it will fit easy enough! I’ve been flying a K77 with rear muffler in my SV11 arf. I got a header and carbon pipe for future planes. I got to looking at the “tunnel” area on my plane and got the idea to swap the header muffler for the full pipe. I’m concerned about cutting away the bottom of the fuse to get the pipe in and out. Will I be losing too much structure? I thought I’d place a bulkhead at the backend of the pipe and seal the tunnel area with a couple coats of dope. Not sure about supporting the back end of the pipe. Maybe a standoff and a tie wrap?
I’m probably going to start on this shortly but I’ll keep an eye on this thread in case I’m making a big mistake!

Thanks, Matt

Anything I should be aware of or watch out for?
I’ve got the tunnel cut out and waiting on last coat of dope to dry now. Need to figure out a method to clamp the pipe in place so it can’t move fore or aft.

The rear mount should have nothing to do with holding it fore/aft, just up/down/side/side. The length it held by the ty-raps on the header and pipe.
