With the recente crash of my Legacy, I was left without a ship for contests.
Then, what are friends for? A guy from the club cut me a deal for this one to replace the other...
Would like to thanks Carlos for that.

Now, is there anyone flying one on a pipe?? My idea is to power this ship with the Enya 61 on a pipe...

I have an electric setup that is treating me well. It sports a Arrow Wind 2832 motor on a 12x6 APCEP prop. It uses 2300 mah out of a PowerWing 3300 mah battery,Hubin FM9 timer and Castle Ice 50 ESC.

Hate to see planes destroyed like that. I take it the engine was not hurt. Also isn't it great we have friends in time of need. Now I know nothing about piped ships.

Me neither Doc.... Don't know yet if it'll be on a pipe... I got a couple of ST 60s, including the one that was on the crashed ship.
Maybe I'll go with one now to have a reliable plane to fly and go piped only on the TG.
Yes, real friends are the ones who show up when you need them, without asking them... Carlos is a great kid!!!

Hi Marcus:

I have an ARF Legacy with electric power, AXi 2826-10 on 4-C batteries, abundant power. I also have an Enya 61 CXS, side exhaust, which I had in a Score ARF. Wonderful engine, would be more than enough in the Legacy ARF. If you already have the Enya, that would be easier than an electric conversion. How about a rear muffler rather than a pipe, if you are not experienced with tuned pipes? That way no need to build a pipe tunnel and pipe mount. The Legacy is a great-flying design and will serve you well no matter how it is powered.

The wing is asically finished...
Will add a fiberglass cloth reinforcement at the panels' joint, better safe than sorry...

You got stuff happening in all areas, absolutely an active modeler, builder, flyer and competitor! Kudos!

Never took that ARF stuff serious, since I had and got rid of the ARF Flite Streak I purchased.

Your efforts makes one re-think ARF's.

I've used tuned pipes in R/C pattern. In CL, just more weight? For years they weren't even around. Guys that use them are the ones that know all about them. Would be interesting to see what they have to say about their use.

Didn't you mention electric once? Any interest in that, going "E" possibly an experimental model.

I have thoughts in that area.

Did you use JB Weld to fix the ball links sets in the push rods, as Brodak recommends? Is it a good glue for this purpose? What about normal epoxy?

What glue did you use to fix the hinges? Gorilla glue?

So, I can't explain, but I noticed some wasn't OK, and rechecked the hinge line alignment and...

There was 1/4 inch difference at both stab ends.... 11 blade, pacience, got everything cut loose, did all over again.

Now, it's OK.... How could I do that???

If you use white microballons and white epoxy tinter it will look like it was one piece.

The White tinter I don't have, so only the White microballoons.
I'm done with the fillets, now tank, plumbing and engine.

Plain old Tempra paint powder will work, just mix the raw powder into the epoxy like the microballoons.

I put gloss white bath tube caulk or silicone over the epoxy fillets, just the silicone if I think the wing joint is OK as is, depends on the model.
Keith Sandberg turned me on to this method. Calls the stuff "Tube-O-Fillets"!!!

The powertrain is on...
Now gonna fuel proof the engine/tank compartment and do the cowl.
LG next, ready to fly.
Will add 3/4oz tip weight for maiden flight.

Only a little fuel to check tipweight, etc...
I had two more flights, and will add a little tipweight and move the leadouts a little ahead, plus shim the tank to lower it, the inverted flight is a bit faster the normal flight, nothing really than the usual trimming...
I'll post a vídeo of me doing the pattern as soon as I finish trimming the ship...

Yeah Charles, that's a new engine... and it will go back to the bench and have more time there 'cause I think it's still not good...
Put another one for today and it flew great...
Still some trimming to do, but it's a great ship.

Today I got great flights, using another ST 60, TF 13X6, very good 4-2 break, 5% nitro.....
5.2 sec laps.
Added 2/3 oz tip weight.
Sorry, owe you guys the vídeo though...
That engine downthrust thing really works... very nice bottoms!!!

Now, can focus only on flying.

A few pics of my friend Roberto's Legacy ARF I'm putting together for him..
Now, two options for power: PA 51 and PA 61.
I'd go with the 61... But I'm not very familiar with PAs... What you guys think??

Charles,, I am sorry but I have to counter this statement lest people assume you are correct,,

Pipes basically dominated Stunt for many years,, and are reputed to be actually easier to get setup than a non piped setup,, ( as in the 40VF) there is a myriad of information available making them pretty painless and not just by the guys who know all about them,, they also provide a superior type of run over a lot of setups,, Pipes in RC Pattern are used for boosting power,, different animal

This will be Roberto's first experience with a piped ship, so it will be piped-101 for both of us.
He listened to me and got the PA 61.
It will fly next weekend, I still have some building to do.

I would've done it for nothing, but he gave two engines for that build.
You can check for yourself if it flew well... Here's the first flight, with wrong prop and all the adrenaline, first piped ship, you know...
Now, as I have a second Enya 61 CXL RS here, I've been thinking about a little surgery in my Legacy...

Yeah, the first video shows the first flight jitters. The plane looks great in the videos and looks it needs very little trim. Just a suggestion for your flying partner, hang on to the prop when attaching the battery and also move behind the plane with the tach to set the needle. Yes, I have had engines pop and start when hooking up battery. I have felt the bump while holding the prop when hooking up battery. Did I say the plane looks great.
