ARC Impact update
« on: March 12, 2010, 09:18:17 AM »
A quick update here. I received an e-mail from the factory yesterday
saying that the ARC Impact kits will be ready in April and should be
shipped on the next container shortly after that.

Thanks, Steve Moon, UHP

Hi Steve,

Are any of these going to be take-apart ARCs?  I'm ever hopeful that a CL take-apart ARC will become available some day?  #^

Steve,

Do you have a waiting list for the kits?

No take apart at this point, though it shouldn't be too hard to
do yourself as the wing comes in two halves.

Bill: Just send an e-mail to: ultrahobby@cs.com to get on the
list for the Impact ARCs.

Thanks, Steve

Rudy: The Impact will use the wood spars like the T-Rex. As Brad
has posted elsewhere, I am sure it would be okay to build it
without these. I also don't see any problem with designing some
kind of take apart system with the two wing halves. Until I see
something better I'm going to say that the Yatsenko system
used in the Shark is the best take apart system going.

Just an update here. I recently flew the prototype Impact ARC
in the DASH contest in Dallas. Before the contest I had exactly
8 flights on the plane and put in one practice flight the morning
of the contest. It was quite hot and windy, but the Impact ARC
was no problem at all. It handled the wind easily and performed
quite well. I was scoring in the 480-490 range, and considering
the lack of practice and the conditions was pretty happy with
that. I'm sure with maybe 20 more flights and some trimming out
I would have been 30 or so points higher. Overall, I thought the
plane flew great and acquitted itself quite well.

The planes should be arriving sometime in mid to late July and
be ready for sale shortly thereafter. I'm going to inspect a couple
of them before shipping any out just to make sure they are to
my liking.

Later, Steve

Hi Steve,

1. I moved my "hijack inducing" take-apart stuff to it's own thread. Sorry for any inconvenience.

2. We look forward to the arrival of another high quality CL ARC from UHP.

3. Please see my PM for my order. :-)

Regards,  H^^

Hi Steve,

I'm looking forward to my new ARC Impact in the next few weeks. TIA for taking the time to do a sample QC check before shipping. :-)

One more small question:  Is the ARC fuselage the same width as the original.  I'm looking at the plans I have, and it sure is narrow. I plan on squeezing a 5S battery in the front. I guess I could make some looooong cheek cowls if needed.  n~
