LA 25 vs LA 40 in a ARF Nobler
« on: September 13, 2010, 10:39:51 AM »
So I have this ARF Nobler and I want to start flying Classic so I have another event to fly in.
I know some of you have a ARF Nobler.

Anyone running the LA engines?
Thoughts?

I have an OS La .46 in mine and love it!  I don't know if I would go much smaller.

I put a OS 35FP in mine before the pushrod came apart. I was great power for this plane. I would also sugest a Fox 35. with stuffer backplate and hemi head.

Good move and you will be mucho happier.  As good as the .25 size engines are, I would not put them in a Nobler without a tuned pipe.  Let us know how it works out. H^^

Paul,

Be sure and check the stab incidence in relation to the wing. I just had to cut mine and remove about 3/32" to remove the negative in the tail.

I now understand from a lot of folks that this is a very common problem with some of the nobler arfs.

Check it before you glue it the first time :)

Yeah, I was on the wrong end of that plane.  Dave whupped up on all of us in Classic with that bird!  I think that was the last time he came out to Huntersville.  The LA-25 was plenty of power and with the light motor up front it had a monster corner.

I'm into LA46s at the moment. They've got a loafing along 4 stroke run, followed by a very useful break when doing the tricks. Weight is, of course, another issue. Tongue muffler on the 46, of course.

HI Steve,

Thanks for having my back.  I had posted the same response as you and Alan in another post about this, but it seems to have gotten lost. ;D

Seems the LA 25 and LA 46 run a bit better for our needs than the 40LA.  Don't know the *why*, just an observation.  The 40LA seems a bit less friendly.

Thw weight issue become more apparent with the light Nobler ARF, also.

Paul, if you dont have enough with the 40, contact Lee's Machine and buy a .300 Venturi.. It will do wonders.. Jim can help you get it right.

I have an OS 35S converted to ABC installed in mine. More than enough power.
