Title: Carbon landing gear
Post by: thomas farmer on October 12, 2010, 01:13:02 PM
Randy I need a carbon fiber landing gear for my Extra 230, the dural gear I have now has a 4" rise, 3.625 wide at the fues., 14" spread at the wheel pants. The  carbon fiber gear spread at the wheel pants will work in the range of 10 to 14", Rise 3.5" to 4", at least 3.5" wide where it fastens to fues. Any Ideas? Tom Farmer.

Hi Tom

The 3.625 width at the fuse is going to be a problem, The only solution I know is what others have done,, cut the CF gears I have in half at the top middle and bolt it to a CF plate or mold it into an wider CF top to fit the fuse

There are pitures of the CF gears on my web site

Randy, cutting the gear in half and modifing will not be a problem, the gear style that I have become familiar with is one that Mike Scott is using on one of his air aerobatic models. The carbon gear that looks the right shape for my Extra is the one with curved legs. I did not see any spec's on the web site. Let me know,Thank's Tom Farmer
