Here is the rest of the story:
Photo 1 - The cowl mold is shaped from blue foam with ply ends to define the shape. Coat with spackle, paint with gray Krylon primer and sand/fill/paint/sand/fill....(you get the idea)... to a perfect finish. 4 coats of paste wax, 2 coats of PVA release agent.
Photo 2 - ready to 'glass. Very slow epoxy, and use an Olfa rotary cutter. 2 layers of 4-ounce 'glass worked out very well.
Photo 3 - Press an inflated balloon down over the mold with wetted 'glass. Let air out as you go.
Photo 4 - Allow to set for 24 hours. You want it HARD when you de-mold it to avoid distortion.
