I am building a White Lightning by Bruce Feaver and am putting a Brodak .061 on it. My question is, what line length should I use? I have a set of .008x52' braided lines....are they too long? H^^
-
Glenn, your question is basically how powerful is the brodak .061. I am not qualified to comment on that. But, my slightly oversized White Lightning flies very well for a flat winger with a norvel .061 on 45 foot 30lb. spiderwire lines. The .008 braided lines were just too much of a hassle for me.

I fly most all my .061-powered planes on 48' of Spiderwire. I do fly my combat wings with .061s on 42', just for the adrenalin rush. Lap times, and perception, is about equivalent to 120-mph Fast ships on 60' lines. Mind, these are Norvels and one Wasp. Don't know how the Brodak compares.

I would try the 52' lines with a great deal of caution. I think 45' is about right, or even a bit long. However, it is easier to cut lines down, than add to them.... :##
If you fly conservatively, you should be able to safely cut them down a bit at a time until the plane flies solidly at the ends no matter what the maneuver.

OK....I'll fly the plane on 52' and cut them down as needed. Thanks fellas. Now for something else....what wing tip weight? One nickle or two? ;D
-
On sheet wings, I put a bolt through the wing and just add or subtract washers as needed.
-
One nickel oughtta do. I use a penny on smaller .049 models.

Why waste a nickle when you can get a good washer for only 7 cents (plus tax). :-\
