Title: Vintage Performance Models Baby Nobler.
Post by: Dane Martin on July 19, 2020, 11:04:22 PM
I won a FB giveaway for some CA and some accelerator. I took that opportunity to get a new kit or two to use said free CA. So I ordered the baby flitestreak and the baby nobler. I built the baby nobler today. The clam shell spar makes a super quick and stout wing build.

It can easily be built and covered in one night, but I'm so indecisive on my color combinations... so I didn't budget my time very well. Got the wing covered. I'll cover the rest tomorrow.

Wow.  I haven't done 1/2 A in a long time.   You have hooked me back into it.  I just ordered the Baby Nobler.  I have a good working TD 049.  Should be a blast!    #^

Is the blue and white MonoKote?

I cheated and used econokote.... it's a little easier on the 1/2a stuff

Well as I said you let the 1/2 bug bite me!  y1  My Baby Nobler is ready for an engine test run and then a first flight.  I have a Baby Ringmaster however the Baby Nobler is bigger. Should be a great flyer.  Looking forward to the first flight.  Power is  TD .049 running on a balloon tank.  This was a really nice kit.  Went together without a problem.  y1

The planes look great flying.  Guess the old DOC may have to think 1/2A.  But, the last 1/2A I flew and Melvin should remember was a Baby Flite Streak with a Golden Bee on it.  6-3 prop, 35 foot lines and it screwed me into the ground.  Last 1/2A that was that fast was a Combat Kitten with a RR-1 for power. Well It's been a year since I built my Baby Nobler.  Next month our club will have it's 1/2A fly-in.  So I decided it was time to get the Baby Nobler ready.  Last year I started to ring it out but I couldn't get the TD to run correctly.  As it turns out it was a plug.  Ty gave me a handful Cox plugs and the TD came alive.  Flew it today and it flew great.  Was a little lean so it sagged on loops.  Also handle required some up to fly level.  On the landing one of the wheels slid up the landing gear and the rudder drug on landing and became detached.  So took it home and fixed the wheel.  Glued the rudder back on.  Added a tail skid to protest the rudder.  Next time out I will adjust the lines for neutral and go a click richer on the TD.  However like I said on the first flight she was fast, had good line tension,  and did great loops.   This ship is going to have full stunt capable.  I am going to love it.   #^    #^    #^   ;D

Good to hear it, John.  Looking forward to updated flight report.

And, Dane, I don't think I commented on yours last year, but it looks great!.

I'm going to have to contact Vintage Performance and see if they sell just the wing kits.

Mark
