Wizard sighted in Northridge working on new "broom"
« on: February 22, 2018, 11:48:58 PM »
I stopped by Smith Bros Hobby Shop in Northridge, CA last Sunday to pick up some tip skids. Between customers, and when not assembling customer electric foamies, Tony was finishing the woodwork on a new Lil Wizard. He said he built it because he had a Cub engine that was just sitting around. (I like that logic...now I have an excuse reason to build all kinds of stuff. Thanks, Tony!)  For the Cub, he went with a beam mount, but then had to notch the fuse pretty deep to clear the integral radial mounting flange on the engine. He reduced the nose doublers to 1/64th birch. Cloth hinges. Aft high-point wing profile. Tiny little profile fuel tank. Maybe we'll see it out flying before this year's 1/2A day?
