Yes the Brodak Lil Jumpin Bean is laser cut. A very Nice kit.

That "lame piece of plastic" happens to be tough as nails.  I have one on a Plastic Fantastic 24 that has been crashed, literally, dozens of times.  No cracks, nothing.

The "lame piece of plastic" will also allow the builder to block the left side of nose with balsa and cover the protrusions on the right side to make a nice flat spot for a wedge tank. I would modify the new edition though to include a longer nose to allow modeller to do beam mounts with a ply sandwich over two slivers of maple or radial mounted tankless engines. Golden Bee users could just saw it off to original design length.

A 115%-120% scale up of this model would be nice for hotter .049s-.061s

I do believe that you could splice the beam mount nose onto the kit fuselage without much problem.  With the ply doublers extending back over the wing root, all the splices would be covered by the ply, and with modern epoxy, it would be pretty strong and not much added weight at all.  Since the original Goldberg was for firewall mounted .049s, I doubt they even considered it when Brodak did the "new" kit.  I would like a clear canopy too, myself.

I had one in 1964, and my son had one years ago.  it still lives in the basement!
