Over a year ago I posted that a club member was going to build a Tercel.
The time has come, we plan to test fly this week, weather permitting.

Nice Roger! I have a kit for a future build, kind of afraid i'll make it too heavy for a .061 What is your finished weight? What engine and more important what tank ? Hope it does good for ya!!

That looks suspiciously like a Whitney job. Very suspiciously.
Now I'm not saying it won't stunt, but a reasonable person would pull off the cowl and look inside to see if:
a. It is really a 1/2A or .061 engine, or if some stoked and doaked imposter has been substituted;
b. If it hasn't been modified to run nitrous or some such technical improvement;
c. Has a hidden exhaust system that includes an AMA-prohibited turbocharger to provide power boost;
d. Or has simply gone to a big block .15, just because.
Do not let some kind of complicated cowl attachment scheme keep you from performing this inspection. The very safety of the world of stunt is at stake here.

if the weather holds up we will put the first flights on the Tercel if all go's well I will post and give all the basic info weight, tank size ,how long it runs , prop size line length and Di and will throw in how I set up my case pressure line so that it is almost impossible to flood the engine when filling the tank'

Well didn't learn much yesterday,the wind was rough .the jet 061 ran 13 min on 1;1/2 oz of 10% fuel . a 7/2 was too much prop, and a 6.5/2 was a lot closer,all on 42 ft spider wire . 50 to 52 .008 should work fine once sorted out,also learned that it has picked up a warp in the last couple of days

It's been really windy and cold out. Trees blowing over after all that rain. Too cold to read much, whether my lips are moving or not. So I can almost promise that I won't read about the special hemi/tuned pipe setup on ASP. Besides, the only thing that I have that is close to that is my Spring Break Special, and since it is profile, that stuff won't work. And no way can I afford to send it up to Malibu or Brentwood or somewhere like that for decoxification. So the Cox stays.
Remember: if there ain't no tuner at the beach it must be something else fishy going on....

PS--I will be curious how well the +10% Tercel scaling fits the goh-six-one. I wun'ta done it, myself. Would have used the power "reserve" for the longer lines and wind insurance. But you don't know until you know. You know?

The MP Jet engines are powerful, but beware that they are not reliable flying a full pattern. Tim Meek built a scaled down Sterling P-51 and it flew great, winning the Leprechaun trophy one year. He sold it and the next owner (who shall remain nameless (not me)) put a Jet on it against my advice. It quit in a bad place and totaled the model. Tragic end for a beautiful piece of work.
I had similar experiences with that brand.
May you have better fortune! But be ready for emergency maneuvers and running like heck!
Jets are fab free flight powerhouses and good RC power, but in my experience not for PA. Incidentally, I have not found a way to get a pattern out of rhe Fox .049 either, and have several crashes to prove it.

It is easier if you do not measure your lines in feet. Try one of the following measurements:
0.6363 Chains
2.545 Rods
28 Cubits
126 Hands
1506 Barleycorns

How about Smoots? They were used to measure the Massachusetts Avenue bridge between Boston and Cambridge. Something just over 5 feet as I recall. I’ll have to look it up.
Of course I prefer the furlong, fortnight, stone system of measurements. However, try the Miicrogram, micron, nannosecond system for real precision.

I didn't forget to list a heel-to-toe measurement. I left it out on purpose. My feet aren't that big, so everything I ever bought if measured that way I would have gotten cheated....

Never heard of Smoots before. New one on me. I ruled out furlongs, because there are no horses involved, and I dislike the inaccuracy of working with a paltry fractional number. Of course, we could get Bob a tape measure marked out in scientific notation. That's the ticket!
42 ft = .06363636363636363636363636363636363636 Furlongs, (approximately)
But Larry's mention of his favorite unit of length reminds me that back in junior high school, we used a special set of units to describe how speedy we were on bikes. But most people didn't get it. By careful calculation we were easily hitting 7.9x10EE6 Goolagongs per Fortnite (gpf). We thought that was really something....

Good old Senator Smoots just about kills the world economy during the depression (depending on who you believe) and has the gall to have a grandson that thinks he is doing good science when he lays down in the road. Repeatedly. Could only happen near Boston, Messedupchusetts. Probably the bad influence their universities have on the frat bois. The guy apparently had to work his #$%@! off on ANSI committees to make up for all his youthful indiscretions. Notice how he retired to Sandy Yego? Once he wised up, he must have wanted to get as far from Messedupchusetts as he could. I noticed all lot of other MITs did the same thing....

I certainly did! But with the People’s Republic Movement, it’s not a sure thing. If I want snow I will rent it, and at least it doesn’t turn gray the next day here!

The one I saw a week or so ago that was partially completed looked just like a 1970's full-sized stunt ship. Inverted engine, parallel engine bearers from maple, ply doubler kind of thing. I don't remember the cowling, or maybe it was not done yet.
I assumed it was the currently available kit. Larry would know.
Since the recent deal was scaled up 10%, it might be more than a Cox Medallion or TeeDee can easily handle. Or, you could go back to the original Tercel that was designed for the Cox. That is probably what I'd do.
