Hi all,
I'm not exactly sure where this should go but I'll start here. I have a Sterling P38 kit that originally called for two .15's - looking att he wing of the kit I though two 049's (cox babe bees) would be more appropriate power for this wing.
The thing I need help with is the balance point. As the kit is now it would probably be very tail heavy. I could cut some holes in the tail surfaces and the rear fuselage and add a heavier front wheel but is it worth it.
I have a pair of norvel .061's but I think they will be two powerful for this plane.
This might be a good electric kit conversion since the battery could counter balance the tail.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

I would go with the Norvel .061s. Try to keep it light, and those should power it for flight, it will need to fly pretty faqst if you want to stunt it. Very thin airfoil. Sterling made prettu much the same kit for .049s, just smaller. I have both kits and will probably use OS .10FPs for the larger one.

Put two fifteens on it and it won't turn worth a dam.
But two cox .09s and it flies great. Seen it.
novel .061s will work just fine, I have a 15 ounce 1/2a nobler that is good with a Norvel .049.
Two .061 norvels should have no problem with a P38 up to 25 ounce and that should be an easy weight to make even with Sterling wood.
Might need nose weight.

OK - so the .061's seem to be the fit. - I thought that would be the case - the plane looks small for a pair of 15's and the box shows an old pair of fox15's which are way under powered compared to the engines nowadays.
