Title: Skyray
Post by: Rick Bollinger on March 18, 2012, 02:12:56 PM
This is my 6 yr old Matt and his Skyray. We were able to get it done this winter when I could keep him interested. (He is a train guy  :( ) That's not a bad thing just wish it would of been airplanes. He has watched me fly with some interest so he got this for his b-day along with trains. It was a pretty straight forward but I did reinforce the nose with some 1/16 ply under the motor mount back about 3/4" into the wing. And used cloth hinges. Rick

I had one of those when I was 13 or 14.  Flew the snot out of it.  I recall that it flew a lot better without landing gear -- I didn't know squat about CG location; I suspect that it was more because I moved the CG back than because of the drag reduction.

Yours looks better.  At 14, paint was just to keep the wood from absorbing oil...

"He is a train guy"

That's OK Rick! y1

When it's nice outside...
I fly planes!
When it's not....
I run trains! LL~

GREAT job on the Skyray!

"Tight Lines!" H^^

Were trying to put together another fun fly in May or June so it is entirely possible. Again 3 rings with food, drink and merriment!  Rick
