Found my full sized plans of this. I will increase wind span to 30" and make stab/ elevator larger. Plus use a beam mounted set-up. Real nice looking model sort of racing look from 30's type racers. Built up wing and make ribs thicker. Should be nice when done. Well off to get some lite 3/16 for fuse, maybe hard 1/8" stock. This will be fun.
I have Noyes Challenger ready to go with new Norvel .061. Maybe try AP wasp in it to. The Bonzo I will use a TD .049 or modified Medallion .049.

I missed this, but I remember the kit. The Bonzo was Steve Whittman's predecessor to the Buster. The real plane was yellow w/Royal Blue lettering. The plane's racing number was 1. ;D

What scale is the Bonzo going to be? Who drew the plans originally?
Bonzo was built in 1948 running its first race in 1949. The wingspan was only 15.3' with a cord length of 4.3'
Buster was the first Midget Racer and built from the 1930 racer Chief Oshkosh that had been damaged. It first competed in 1947. Steve Whittman hired a pilot for the event as he was working on Bonzo. Busters WS in 47 was 16' with a cord of 4.5 and later changed a little for the 48 races to 4.6 cord along with a recontour to the back of the fuse and wheel pants added.
Bonzo was a new build and intended to be a better Buster from what he had learned.
Think about those Wingspans with the width of the fuselage taken out of the equation and that gives you a new appreciation for just how tiny these planes were and are. Even the modern long span Midgets (F1's) are around 19' I have a photo in a book with Steve posed under the right side wing of Bonzo and his arms outstretched. His span has the right wing covered.

Thanks for the info, Mark! I had it backwards. :o I thought the Bonzo came first, my bad.
There is a nice looking Bonzo Stunter in an old the American Modeler for the Fox .35. Built up fuselage, abut 50" WS and the cheek cowl is the engine cowl (side mounted engine). I would like to build it one day. ;D
