Title: Rubber bands for Cox RTF plastic planes
Post by: Dave Nyce on November 18, 2020, 02:00:43 PM
I have several of the Cox RTF plastic planes that I'm planning to use with the kids at the foster care center.  I found out that the original rubber bands for the Cox PT19 were size #12 natural gum rubber.  Can't seem to find those.  Everyone has crepe rubber bands.  Don't seem to last more than a few minutes with fuel on them.  Does anyone know where to buy size #12 gum rubber bands?

What about trying a silicon rubber band, dont know if it comes in the right sizes but may be more fuel proof. Maybe something such as re-purposing these these? https://www.amazon.com/Jconly-Elastic-Professional-Silicone-Accessories/dp/B07PSFKXH1/ref=pd_di_sccai_1/135-9403907-4995813?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07PSFKXH1&pd_rd_r=5b232aaa-1539-4d3d-a120-a39b9f20a460&pd_rd_w=0ITrF&pd_rd_wg=cOltF&pf_rd_p=5415687b-2c9d-46da-88a4-bbcfe8e07f3c&pf_rd_r=CMD4YARB1B6XXPD28KCD&psc=1&refRID=CMD4YARB1B6XXPD28KCD

Just buy whatever the cheapest ones you can find and that hang on tight enough to do the job. I remember when there were real office supply stores that sold a large variety of rubber bands. Office Max and Office Depot only carry 3 or 4 sizes. Amazon and eBay have a variety but I like picking something up and holding it in my hand before I buy it.
