Post by: Bill Heher on March 23, 2015, 01:28:02 PM
Won this old school, pre-safety hoop, crash damaged Shrike cheap on da'bay- found some ARF wheel pants at the Hobby Shop that will take the place of the busted up original wheel fairings. I like it!

Nice.  After getting back in this year, I was trying to find a link to building something like this to try for fun, as they look like a hoot.  Nice score.

Had one of the original metal pan prop rods. Used to take it out on a frozen lake and let it run free. Would run a few hundred feet, hit a bump and spin around on the ice an speed of in another direction. Being young I wasn't smart enough to realize the plastic wasn't real fond of the cold and the mounting screws for the engine  broke off.

I still have my Cox Prop rod.   We ran it a few times I a Church parking lot.   Lots of fun until the tether ring hangs up, then it gets scary.

I know this is an old thread, but I have a COX Shrike as well that I restored a few years ago.
Here are some before and after pics along with a video.
Also, you can get new reproduction bodies on E-Bay.
