Title: Potential 1/2A stunt ship
Post by: eric rule on May 12, 2015, 09:15:32 PM
Any of you fellows interested in a 1/2A sized Stills Stuka? The reason I ask is that a couple of years ago I scaled down the Stuka into a size for 1/2A.  Got Wild Bill Netzeband to carve me a really nice canopy complete with all details and ran a few of these kits off for people in my club. I never really finished the project so that it was ready for commercial cutting as decent 1/2A engines were becoming scarce! With the advent of really good electrical C/L systems I am considering revamping the project. All it would take is a few hours work in AutoCAD and I could produce the 1/2A Don Still Stuka so that it could be built for either glow or electric power. If enough people are interested in getting one of these neat 1/2A Stukas I will complete the AutoCAD work. From what I recall this model would be priced around $79.95

Hi Eric, That sounds like a fun project. Can you give us some more details please, like wingspan, and what you refer to as a 1/2A engine........049, 0.09 etc.? Thanks.

Hi Eric,

I would definitely be interested in one of these kits for a glow engine.  Thanks for all you do for us!

Do you have any pics of the airplane?

Thanks,

OK here goes,

Wing Span is 34-3/4 inches, Wing Area is 252.7 sq. inches. Length is 22.8 inches
Glow engine suggested .049 Tee Dee or better yet  AP Wasp .061 running off a balloon tank.

If electric suggested power is the RSM .061 system (Black Tiger BT2836C  - 1300 kv  motor running on a 3 cell 1300 mAh Lipo, with 25 Amp ESC, Kr Governor with APC 6-4 Pusher prop developing 250 Watts of power.

Model is a scaled down Don Still Stuka so it is Leprechaun Legal. I do not have a pictrure of this model but have attached one of Mr. Still holding his original Stuka and the RSM Stuka. Just imagine the model being smaller.

Eric it sounds awesome. What is the weight of the Black Tiger BT2836C  - 1300 kv  motor? Is that motor available outside of the combo setup?

Hi Bill;

Yes, the Black Tiger motors are available outside of the combo packages. Here's the data on the complete line.

BLACK TIGER ELECTRIC MOTORS
By RSM DISTRIBUTION

RSM Distribution is pleased to announce a new line of competition level electric motors. These motors are made exclusively for RSM Distribution using only superior grade imported Japanese bearings and Stator cores. High grade copper wire is used to insure that the motors run cool. RSM Black Tiger Motors use only high grade neo magnets. Before shipment all of the motors are properly balanced and inspected for quality.
The motors come complete with mount frame, prop adaptor and connectors attached.

RSM Black Tiger Motors come in the following sizes

Glow Power   RSM Black Tiger Motor
Equivalent   Part #           KV         Cells    Watts     Price      Weight      AMPS
.061       BT2836C  - 1300 kv       3           250      $29.99   70 gr      25
.15      BT3530C  - 1400 kv       3         275      $39.99   75 gr      30
.25      BT3536C  - 1400 kv       3         450      $44.99   95 gr      40
.35-.40      BT3542C  - 1150 kv       3-4      575      $49.99   130 gr      35
.46-.51      BT3548C  -   900 kv       4-6      700      $54.99   160 gr      40
.61-.75      BT4240C  -   750 kv       5-6      950      $59.99   140 gr      60

All sizes of RSM Black Tiger Motors come with a 2 year warranty (crash damage not covered).

As far as the 1/2A Stuka goes I have been extremely busy with kit production as well as finishing off a brand new Mig 3(.46 size) design and working with Dave Sabon to complete the drawing for his new full bodied Twin Pathfinder with retracts. That has made it impossible for me to do any work on the Stuka. I should have sufficient time in August to get the final work done on it. Keep you eyes peeled for the announcement on the availability of it.

The 1/2A Stuka is just about ready to go to laser cutting.

Here's a picture of the plan. As you can see I have modified the original plan to allow the builder to power the model with glow or electric.

I hope you folks like this one. It is priced at $79.95 for the kit. If you want to include the RSM .061 Competition Level Electric power system priced at $139.99 with the kit we will discount the package by $25.00. Your final price for kit and ECL system would be $194.94

Email sent.
Norvel or Medallion .049, that is the question....

Hi Chris:

I am not a big fan of the Norvel so I would vote for the Medallion. The best choice would be the AP Wasp .061 (great engine).

I read up on that. AP sounds like a easy going engine.
Aren't those a little hard to come by now though? (like the others aren't, but I happen to have 2 medallions and Norvel, a really early one) Is there a source for them?
Sorry for all the questions.

Eric,

I might be interested in the Kit and I have a NIB Wasp 61 but it is the RC model. I have been looking for a CL venturi for it but cant find one. Do you have any suggestions or should I run it like it is?   :!

Thanks for your help, RK Flyer

For the best Ap Wasp .061 venturi get ahold of n Jan Holuszko. He made them for me when we sold the engine. Last contact I had for Jan were:
phone: (313) 885-7428
E mail: jan5721@comcast.net

Product was superior to anything else I saw and worked beautifully in the engines. Plus Jan is a nice guy to deal with.

I plan on cutting the first of the 1/2 A Stuka kits the end of this week.

Anybody who wants one should send me an e mail at rsm1rule@rsmdistribution.com so I can put you on the list. When they are ready to ship out I will send you a PayPal Payment Request or if you prefer to use a credit card put your phone number in the e mail and I will call you for the card details.
