Title: Plastic or Nylon?
Post by: Dennis Saydak on January 23, 2011, 05:27:47 PM
I have a TD .020 that is virtually new but it is frozen up. I'm wondering what the best way to free it up is. I don't want to use anything that will damage the red crankcase housing or tank.

I'd remove the plug and tank, then immerse it in fuel for a couple of minutes...assuming it's frozen with congealed castor oil.

mount a prop and use a hair drier to get the cylinder warm .  After you can turn it over, take it apart and clean it out.  I use denature alcohol and have never had a problem with the anodizing.  I use a brass pistol cleaning brush for cleaning the cylinder and a small wire tooth brush for the rest.
