It has been several days since there was a new posting. Is nobody doing anything? Beware, or I may post items on each pin I insert and glue joint I do! Not to mention sweeping off the bench and vacuuming the bandsaw ( which badly needs it! )

I was gone for more than a year with no Internet, and it seems to me things are slow. I have been trying to find out some info without much luck so I have been posting questions on a lot of forums and they are all dead slow.

I'm not quite sure why I can't seem to complete anything lately. I had a RSM Miss Ashley on the table for what seems to be forever. I've been building 1/2 A combat planes and this has certainly taken me away from my stunt side of 1/2 A. The Miss Ashley has underwent an entire facelift receiving a new fuse that resembles the Magician. The front end is no longer radial mount acceptable as I elected to convert to a beam mount for a Cox Medallion. The fuse has really been extended in the rear as well. I truly hope I'm going about this correctly. I allowed enough room for a Perfect tank I believe 3/4 oz. and the Medallion. The stock fuse has the Babe Bee slightly in front of the leading edge. Extending the nose and also applying ply doublers with 1x4" x 1/4" mounts really needs a considerable long tail. My theory was trying to balance the plane at about 1 1/4" back from the leading edge. With the plane mocked up it still nose dives. I was thinking of adding a fixed flap shaped to conform to the Magician appearance. Due to the flaps behind the CG I was hoping this would balance the model without adding additional weight. Ken

I don't build much in the summer, preferring to spend available model time flying. I am working on a Scientific Stuntmaster from plans for a Hollow Log Musciano contest.

Nope, I'll never quit....but may change events once in awhile for FUN.

I'm feverously building a British (PAW 1.5cc powered) 1/2A 1/12 scale Loki for
British Mini-Goodyear AND TWO (Cox Black Widow powered) Vintage Class one
Mini-Speedsters. One original size 9" wingspan!! and a 130% larger version which
I know flies OK from previous experience. Rather quick on .008" X 35' lines though.
If all goes well they'll be flying at the British Nationals at the end of the month...

I'm currently covered in Balsa dust but have never learned how to post photos is all...

HI Larry,

I believe I am about to the point that I will be able to build soon. Flying will probably be a bit longer. I had hoped that the recovery would have been on the "quick" side of the curve, but it isn't.

I have two planes from Pat K to finish up and I really do need to get them finished. Both are 1/2A Scale profiles.

Thanks Larry! It's a great design! I just got this one San the new .15 sized one. I'm goning to try making a hard point version on this one.

Larry, haven't quit yet and probably never will!! Got in a flight today on my 1/2a, Hyper Viper wing and balsa profile body. She twitches a little in level flight but drops like a rock when the engine quits. Still had fun and got in somewhat of a pattern!!

Funny you should mention modifying one to be a hard-point. Here is how to do it.

The pivots and stops are 4x40 bolts, the aluminum parts are 1/16"x1/4"x1".

Ray, I still haven't gotten a good flight in on the Lil Geo. It is NOT the airplane's fault. As far as I can tell, once I get a running engine on it the performance will be great. I just need to find the secret code for the Fox .049 or ditch it for something like my Atwood Shriek. (Same mounting as a number of other interesting engines!)

Hope you haven't bunged it up too much with all those inverted landings...perhaps a wheel on the top?

Just kiddin'. A Shriek should make it go like gangbusters. It flies fine with a Cox production engine.

Regarding hobby activity: I'm scheduled for a knee replacement soon, that should put a real crimp in my building/flying for awhile.

Hello Larry,
I am back in Ca now but when I returned from caring for my mom. (whom passed in Nov) my 1986 honda decided to follow her. I now have a New to me 2001 pathfinder. Remind me where you fly. I'd like to get a little help getting back into the air. I am stuck waiting to get out of my wifes house. Seems my 1983 lazzy daze is too lazy to pass smog.

Tha Knights of the Round Circle fly at Whittier Narrows, the Valley Circle Burners fly at the Sepulveda Basin. Andy Borgogna and I have a nice little park where we fly electrics in Rancho Santa Margarita.
