Title: Pat King Half-A Ringmaster Gyro Build
Post by: Allen Burnham on September 02, 2022, 07:21:22 PM
I have started building the Pat King Half-A Ringmaster Gyro kit.
Got the rotors and hub shaped. I have the tail parts sanded.
I was looking at the plans and dry fitting the motor mount for a Cox Bee engine and I am a bit lost on how you would use mounting bolts with the mount configuration.
I looked through all the threads I can find on it and I can not figure out how the engine is to be bolted to the mount.
I also looked at beam mounting a Medallion or TD but I see there is no place to mount a tank in line with the venturi.

Has anyone built the model and can shed some light on this?

A fellow flyer from the club commented on my build issue and it reminded me I should clarify the mount issue. So, this may help.
Thanks, Wes!

The issue is the ply firewall mounts are all laser cut with bolt mounting holes and behind that are the balsa supports.
These balsa supports cover 90% of the back of the firewall. So, you cant use wood screws.

My thought now is to cut two 1/4" plywood triangle firewall supports to replace the multiple layered balsa supports.
Then those two plywood triangle supports (cut to the correct offset) could be placed in locations that allow access to the pre-lasered bolt holes in the firewall.
Hmmmm.... That might be it.
