Yup Robert, straight out of the "Blue Chip Accessories" box...what is it, 50+ years old?  I'm afraid to use the plastic snap-on spinners included in that set.

Larry, that ain't Ambroid although now you mention it, it sure looks like it.  It's Elmer's Carpenter's glue, ugly as sin but really good at its job.  Strong, and dries reasonably fast, about 30 min. or so.  Unlike white Elmer's, this stuff will sand, and paint. 

I have a rear-exhaust VA I should have put in it but I didn't really want to go that fast...

Larry, I didn't move the firewall although I debated long with myself about it.

 Complicating the issue is the fact that the firewall is also the landing gear mount. Moving it back the 3/4" or so would also move the wheels back, then I'd need a radical forward slant in the gear to get the wheels back where they're supposed to be, more change to the look than I wanted.   

Finally decided for a straight-and-level speed plane the CG isn't all that critical, nor is overall weight; at this point it looks like it may need 1/4 oz. or so of ballast in the tail.  Not a big deal.  I don't think.
