Norvel Parts
« on: May 23, 2008, 04:20:59 PM »
Anyone have a line on where to get parts for Norvel Big Mig .061?  I have a RC version that I locked the throttle barrel open and flying a Baby Clown in my front yard.  I drilled it into the terra firma and busted the front 2 mounting lug holes.  The ears on the front of the holes broke off.  It still runs good but I would like to get a new crankcase if any are available.  Failing that I guess JB Weld is my next best choice?

Norvel engines show up all of the time on e-Bay.  Used ones sometimes are reasonable.  Bidding on some listed as "New In Box" can get kind of crazy.  Sometimes, new parts in the package are listed.

In fact, there is one seller there, Sheldon Hobbies, that has a number of new parts listed.  Unfortunately, thay do not currently list a crankcase for the .061.  You might try contacting them through e-Bay to see if thay have one for sale.  The part number for the Norvel .061 crankcase is 100108-03.

Good luck.

You can try RC universe under buy and sell engines. They do show up. I sold all my Norvell's except my .061. I have a bunch od TD .049/.051 and with Galbreath head and Nelson plugs didn't need the Norvell's.

The AP Wasp I measured will interchange with the Big Mig, except it has a BETTER Crankcase, in that it is bronze Bushed.  Buy one, and keep the Norvel parts for spares, or build a "Ceramic" Wasp out of the combined parts!   #^  I have decided that my two Wasps have the crankshaft fitted too tight, so if you do a dissasembly, check it out and lap it in if required. (1200 grit  valve lapping compound from the auto store and a hand drill for no-impact lapping.  Then CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN!!!)
Think S.M.A.L.L. y'all and, it's all good, CL, FF and RC!

Hello David, a few weeks ago there was a Ebay store that was carrying buy it now parts for the Norvel .061's. I believe it was Sheldon's Hobby store or warehouse. It was a store and not a listing. The pictures are hard to see the items due to the packaging but the numbers could be read. It would be most helpful to still have your instructions to determine the exact model of case.  Ken Cook
