OK here's another of my current projects while housebound: It's an idea I've been mulling around on for some time now. Same principle as my old handle, line reel incorporated into the handle.
What's the new concept, you say? Two reels, NOT one for each line, but to enable winding up the lines in a figure-eight pattern. Eliminates the "one-twist-per-revolution" that happens with a standard single reel if you try winding up the lines hand over hand rather than turning the reel itself. With the figure eight concept, you can indeed wrap up the lines hand over hand, keeping the handle in one position, since the twist around one reel is negated by the opposite twist around the other. Much faster, also reels out very smooth and fast.
I've only tried it so far with Spiderwire; i intend to try next with .008 steel lines to see if the radius of the reels is large enough to keep the lines from curling.
