Hey guys,I would like to start building from scratch.Can any one help me with dimenions or plans for a .049 mouse racer.They seem prety strait forward and a good way to get started. thanx for any help.

       Frank, are you looking for one to accept a Tee Dee? I recently built two. My first one was a Midwest Kit in which I think I still saved the plans. I will have to look but I'm pretty sure I saved all of the wood after all the die cut pieces were removed. I figured this way, I could just easily replicate broken pieces. That particular one is going on a year old. I learned one very important lesson. I found that basswood becomes a very practical substitute over balsa. These planes take a beating. I diced the wing in half on both of my models and glued in a spruce spar. I found this very important as it prevents the shedding of parts on bad landings and take offs. My initial flight resulted in the plane rolling in and climbing straight up and over my sons head I think you know the rest of the story. Someone on here posted sometime back a very cool looking mouser which used a arrowshaft body. It was well engineered. I will search for the box tonight and try and find it. The other I built was basically scratch built. I got the idea from a post in the speed section here. Ken

If you are looking for a beginner's Mouse Racer for the Cox Reed Valve engines (Black Widow etc.) check out the WAM (Western Association of Modelers) Mouse Racer. Free plans are available at Heman Lee's "Aeromaniacs" web site. Don't let the simplicity fool you, I have seen them race and they are pretty darn fast. The AMA plan service also lists a number of mouse racers. I have built the "Annie" mouse (plans available from AMA.) It is fast but has a small wing and is a little harder to catch and pit than longer winged racers (such as the WAM racer). 8)

Also do a search on "Venom" to get the skinney on how to build a killer motor!  VD~  An actual Venom is totally competitive, but who needs to spend $300?  Buy the correct parts, and you can do as well.
