This is the BabyRingo autogyro that Allan Perrett loaned me for SMALL.
Take a guess as to why I was surprised when it quit running.

Ok other than landing what happened.

Ok other than landing what happened.
Didn't exactly 'land', rather 'fell to ground'.
The prop went sailing when the crank broke.
-
Yeah I couldn't see that on the video. Too bad about the crank. I have noticed with gyros that a bit of up after the engine quits will usually let them autorotate to the ground.
-
Crank broke right in front of what I would call the rear bearing.
That was the first time I ever flew a gyro although.... I have flown a pita .....
-
the prop bolt is too short .needs to go into the crank past the shoulder .we learned that one in mouse racing
-
Nah. It actually broke at the pin but in a weird way.
I've experienced the too-short bolt phenomenon.

That brings back memories. My mentor in the hobby built a 1/2 A autogyro once. I seem to recall it flew somewhat slower than this one. Good stuff.
