Medallion .09 fuel mileage?
« on: July 01, 2019, 08:40:08 PM »

 A little bigger than 1/2A, but how long can I expect a Medallion .09 to run on a one ounce tank?

   Hey Wayne;
     I think it takes about an ounce to and ounce and a half for a Medallion .049 to to the pattern on 45ish foot lines, so just shooting from the hip, I would start with at least 2.5 to 3 ounces and work from there , until you hear from a reliable source of information. contact Larry Renger directly. I'll bet he has a good idea of what it will take.
    Type at you later,

Hi WWW, If it were me, I would mount the engine on a test stand, using the one ounce tank , your prop
(pitch and diameter), intended fuel choice and setting the engine to run at your intended RPMs;  then
actually making several test runs to find an average run duration.  Then you will have an answer to your
question. S?P

 Tony,

 Your plan makes entirely too much sense.  :##

just flew my circus prince with a medallion .09 last Thursday. 15% Sig champion fuel, 1.5 oz tank, 12 minutes running fat.

 Wow, I wouldn't have guessed 1.5 ounces would go that far, thanks for that info. I'm just trying to decide what size tank to hang on my "Jap Zero" project. I intend to finish the plane with a clean setup using a Perfect wedge tank and don't want to end up making any changes or mods afterward. I'd been thinking one ounce would do the job, sounds like that'll probably be the plan.

quantity and type of oil makes a huge difference. castor tend to act thicker, pull more heat from the engine, and you have to lean it out to get the same RPMs you would get on high or all synthetic fuel. you need to experiment.

 It's just gonna be a fun flier and running on the pink stuff, either Sig or Wildcat 15/20, I usually have plenty of both.
