Maybe an electric canard?
« on: July 11, 2010, 10:56:48 AM »
With the advent of decent power from electric and the need for fuel proofing gone I wonder if the time to try a more unique design for c/l is at hand ?
If you do look at the r/c world. They have flown designs with the prop mid wing and i have  some seem very successful designs.
Perhaps it is time to build and fly more foam 1/2A's with electric and placing the engine in places we could not before? As for canards ,why not use a fully floating version that has no real horizontal stab but is mounted on just a carbon tube that rotates. And the control horn would be in the center just like most flaps and elevators are on our modern style ships. The need for twin booms would really not be needed.

Stabilizer/elevator combinations will out lift a full flying stabilizer every time.  I discovered this to my grief while developing the Estes AstroBlaster rocket R/C model.  In addition, trim accuracy becomes easier.
Think S.M.A.L.L. y'all and, it's all good, CL, FF and RC!
