He does bear a slight resemblance to Bob Whitely at that period in time, but I have already seen the photo and caption. I wonder if he still has the hat? Not many people can pull off looking good in a black cowboy hat, and Larry does it here! Must be the mustache!
Do you still have the hat Larry?

Nope, pardner, got a new one last year (54 years later), but it is still a signature. Unfortunately, the beer-can tab hatband (not visible in this view) is no longer available. Should have saved that set!
Sadly, I don't think a Tee Dee will take me off the ground anymore. :'(
The photo was taken at the field surrounding Estes Industries R&D facility (a small shack). We needed room to test rocket designs, and Penrose, CO consists of an intersection of two highways. That's it. So we had plenty of room to play.
I recall that there were only 6 of us in the shack, plus a graphics guy and a photographer at the main building (all one of it) who did the entire Estes line at that time. It was wonderful. You proposed a project, built a prototype, got it approved, drew up whatever was needed, including the decorations, wrote the instructions, arranged the production and then oversaw the first production line processes. What an education! ;D
My first non-aerospace job, and believe, me I NEVER would have considered going back for any amount of money!
